Course Description

"Advanced Mechanics of Materials" is designed to deepen the understanding of the behavior of materials under various stress and strain conditions, focusing on applications in geotechnical and pavement engineering. The course extends fundamental mechanics concepts to more complex systems, including anisotropic, non-linear, and heterogeneous materials, and introduces advanced analytical and numerical methods to analyze material behavior.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand complex stress and strain in engineering materials.
  • Apply advanced theories of elasticity and plasticity.
  • Model and predict the behavior of materials under different loading and environmental conditions.
  • Evaluate the impact of material properties on geotechnical and pavement design.
  • Utilize computational tools for stress analysis and design applications.
